Halloween Zombie Walk
On Halloween night some of my homeschooling friends and I went to the zombie walk in Portland. We slowly made our way through Monument square to the State Theatre. There were lots of creative zombie costumes-- made with fake blood, gore and ripped clothing.
Then we saw "Dawn of the Dead", a horror film, and "Shawn of the Dead", a scary comedy. We also saw a short film called "Last Call", another horror/comedy.
This was the best Halloween ever! Hope we do this again next year.

The Hunting Trip
Last Friday, my dad and I went to my Grandma's house. We went hunting in the woods and only saw two birds. When we got out of the car, they flew away.
Saturday, my Uncle Steve joined us and I got my first kill. I hit the partridge right in the breast. Soon afterwards, I severly injured another partridge. Uncle Steve finished it off. So, I called it a kill and a half.
Dad got a kill. He blew the bird's head right off. Then Uncle Steve got an epic kill. He turned and shot a partridge in mid-flight.
We saw ten partridge throughout the day and we had four of them in the bed of the truck. I will always remember that day!

Earth Science Day
Today my mom and I went to Augusta to the Maine State Museum. I panned gold and learned where there are good places to go panning. We also learned about our water source- how it effects the animals and humans.
Tonight at 5:30 pm I am going to the Topsham Public Library to play some trivia. There is going to be pizza and prizes.

Haven's Candy Factory
On Monday, Sally, Mom and I went to Haven's Candy Factory. We took a free tour and got some caramel popcorn. We pressed a button to fill a mold with chocolate. We got a box filled with treats. We put our treats on a conveyor belt and gave them a chocolate bath. My mom put coconut on her chocolates, Sally put coconut on some of her chocolates, and I put chocolate sprinkles on mine. We got to wrap taffy and bring it home.
It was the best Columbus Day ever!

Escargot
On Saturday, October 1, Grandma Curtin, Mom, Dad, Aunt Maureen and I went to Catherine's Restaurant to celebrate Grandma's birthday. I tried escargot (snails). It was like eating mushrooms. I liked them. They were really good. I also had grouper. It's a fish. It was similar to haddock, but worse. I was not impressed. Then we had dessert. It was like a chocolate volcano without the center. It was to die for!

Teaching ASL Classes
I am teaching an American Sign Language class at two co-op groups. One in Bath and one in Gorham. It's really going well. My students are learning their alphabet. Teaching is as easy as pie. This week in Bath I am teaching my class foods and playing a fun board game. In Gorham I am teaching colors and reviewing the alphabet.

Quarters
Yesterday, my grandma, Mom, and I played Quarters. It is a card game. Here's how to play: First, you deal out four cards face down. Place them two on top and two on bottom. Then only look at two of your cards, without showing the other players, and put them face down again. All the cards are face value exept the king, which is worth zero. If you get a pair, they ex each other out. You try to get the lowest hand.
It's a fun, quick game. About 1-6 people can play.
