My Bucket List

Every New Year's Eve I write in my special notebook what I would like to do. One year I wrote that I would like to ride in a limo. I rode in a limo 8-3-07 and it was awesome. I got to cross that off my list.
I really want to go to Ireland. I want to meet Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore because they're my favorite actors. I want to swim with the dolphins because I've heard they're really good with humans. Except for on the Simpsons where the whole world nearly got destroyed because Lisa saved a dolphin leader. I still want to swim with the dolphins. I also want to visit another aquarium because I love sea creatures. They're interesting which is why I like them.
If you had a bucket list, what would you write on it?

Hmmmm. I read a book about Hawaii many years ago and I've wanted to go ever since, so that would be on my list. I'd also like to go to a neat place called Borobudur, which is in Java, because I used to identify photographs from that place for a museum I worked for. But I would be scared to go to Indonesia (where Java is), so I don't think I'll do that. I think I would like to learn how to ballroom dance. I don't know if I'd want to meet anyone famous because I'm very shy and don't know how to make conversation and that would make me scared to meet someone famous. One thing I would like to do is take a vacation with my younger brother. He makes me laugh and we have fun together, so I think we would have fun on a trip, maybe to Disneyland or something. Oh, and I've always wondered what "Baked Alaska" tastes like, so I'd like to try that.

I'll have to think on what to put on my list, but first I am wondering why you call it a "bucket" list? (this is from sebastian and elias's mom... they'll be reading soon too)

"The Bucket List" is a movie starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. It was about two guys in a hospital. They were talking about making a bucket list which is what you want to do before you "kick the bucket".
Thanks for the question!

Hi,Sally. I'd like to go to Hawaii and try that delicious Baked Alaska dessert. It sounds REALLY yummy.
Did you know that Johnny Depp has a home in France?

Hey Austin,

I'm not sure, but I think the Baked Alaska is some sort of ice cream thing that you bake in the oven to brown the top of it. I'm not sure if that is correct, and if so, how it keeps from melting. I don't know why I think it's pink, too.

Oui, oui, I think I had heard that Johnny Depp had a home in France. I wonder if he knows Hercule Poirot. Oh wait, he's Belgian, not French. Ha ha ha.

Well - I've lived in Hawaii and I can tell you it is FANTASTIC! I taught school in a very rural community on the "Leeward" (that means West) side of the island of Oahu. Our school even had an amazing farm! My son (Rory) was just under two months old when we moved to Hawaii. My daughter Keara was born in Hawaii! I think you might like the geckos in Hawaii - they are everywhere - Even inside houses. It's bad luck to kill a gecko - so when I'd see one, I'd have to catch it in a tupperware container and bring it outside. Oh, and the spiders! We used to get sugarcane spider in the house every once in a while. They are about the size of adult's hand - ugh! I used the vacuum cleaner to catch those guys!!!

As for my bucket list - I'd like to be able to take my kids back to Hawaii before they graduate high school. I think I'd like to learn how to play the guitar. I would really like to write a children's book. Got any good ideas for a character?

Mrs. Washburn,
You should take Rory, Keara and ME to Hawaii :) I really want to go to Hawaii.
That's great! You should write a children's book. How about an Austin-type character?!
